Prolia is used for strengthening bones in women who suffer from postmenopausal osteoporosis and are at risk of fracturing their spine, hip, and other bones. Prolia is best for women who cannot use other osteoporosis medicines or did not get the desired results from previous medications. Prolia is proven to increase bone density and protect bone structure.

Prolia also helps increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis who are likely to experience fractures as well as men who have bone loss from being treated for prostate cancer. Women who are being treated for breath cancer can also take prolia to help treat bone loss. Prolia can only be administered to patients’ with prostate cancer or breast cancer if the cancer has not spread.

Prolia is not to be administered to patients who taking Xgeva. Prolia is administered one time every six months.
